Well is website really important?
Does it REALLY MATTER?
The quick answer is YES...
I treat my website as a WEB PROPERTY. It's a place using which i have been making money over the internet. Before even becoming dentist, i used to blog a lot, i have done blogging in various niches.. from food to recipes to healthy eating to weight loss.
I have made money in different niches.
So using your website, you can make money too..
As i say OFTEN...For me this is a business and i treat it like one..
So how do you start your own website for your clinic/practice/consultation?
Now to start your own website, there are 2 things, you need to understand.
The 1st one is domain name?
And the second thing is web hosting...
What is a domain name?
- Google.com
- Facebook.com
- DrHsm.com
- Sabkadentist.com
- mydentist.com
These are all example of domain name. In other words, the name which you want to register for your website.
So how do you go about choosing a good domain name?
Good domains are usually ones ending with '.com'. Although there are other TLD's like .co.in, .in, .website, .site and so many.
I would suggest you to go with .com, because they are most popular and if someone doesn't know the exact URL of your website, he/she will be going with .com
Now try to use short names.
I typically like to use under 12 digits. If you see my domain name "DrHSM.com" it is only 5 characters.
Some popular names like
- google,
- facebook,
- twitter,
- myspace,
- reddit,
- orkut
- dominos
- pizza hut
- monginis
...if you notice in them, they all are short names less than 12. This doesn't mean you can't go above 12 characters.
Less than 12 characters are preferred.
Can you choose a domain name with 2 words or more?
Now the answer to this question is "YES"
Giving you dentistry example
- My dentist
- Sab Ka Dentist
- Dentzz dental clinic
If you look at these brands, they are not single words, they are 2 or more words in their name.
So if you want to choose a name such as Your dental clinic...you can go ahead choosing the name.
Now after you have decided your domain name, you need to choose your web hosting..
Now what is web hosting...
Web hosting is a web space which is purchased by you on a monthly/3 monthly/6 monthly/yearly/2 year/3 year plan, which you can use to upload your content on the domain name you purchased.
For example, now you go to facebook.com, if there was no webhosting purchased by facebook owner, you would not have been able to upload your own photos, videos, and other content.
So you need a webspace, you can upload your content.
