Top Dental Colleges in India

This question is very tough to answer...

I get asked a lot about best dental colleges in India.

  • Which college to consider for post graduation?
  • Which colleges to consider for graduation?
  • Which is the top dental college?

So to answer these questions, I had already written about 8 tips to consider while choosing your dental college.

If you have read my above blog post, i tell you a lot of factors before you choose your dental college.

I won't be repeating the post contents here, if you haven't read that post, go back to the above post.

Now selection of your college will be based on your NEET rankings. If you have given NEET MDS, then consider the following points.

If your rank is between..

  • 1 to 300 (This ranking is for general category and for all india quota..for state quota this will vary a lot, depending on state to state)...you have chances for government dental college.
  • For a lot of states, ranking within 1000 -2000, you still may have chances for government dental colleges... (Like in GOA, ASSAM)

If your rank is above 300...(300 to 3000)

  • You can get private dental colleges in state quota for your postgraduation, following the eligibility of that particular state.

(You can read my post on how to choose your branch in dentistry for post graduation)

Anything above 3000...you can get admission in deemed universities. (For All India quota when you are applying via MCC website)

  • For state quota;if your rank above 3000, you can still get admission in private dental colleges, although it will vary depending upon state to state.

If you are getting a seat in government dental college, you can consider any branch (clinical as well as non clinical...provided you have interest in non clinical branch).

In government dental colleges, the fees will be very minimal, so you can afford taking any college, and it will also have good stipend.

You can save that money, open your clinic, or you can do short courses. The possibilities are endless.

Even if you don't learn some procedure in a government dental college, it is still fine, you have your stipend, do a short course and learn the procedure which wasn't possible during your 3 year MDS course.

Same thing will matter if you have done your MDS from deemed university or a private dental college.

If you couldn't learn a procedure after paying lakhs of rupees and you still have to spend more from your pocket to learn, then that will matter a lot.

Now coming back to the question

Which is the top dental college?

If i tell you... "Honestly college, will NOT matter much"...Then?

CONFUSED...?

Let me explain...

The college might have

  • Best infrastructure,
  • Very good number of patients
  • Variety of cases
  • Excellent staff

...still that won't matter..

WHY?

Because it is ideally upto you, You will decide in the end..

  • How many patients to do?
  • How to convince patients for specific procedures?
  • Different type of cases to complete

If you are in best college, and if you are not interested...the college won't matter..

I'll give you list of dental colleges in which you can take admission.

Fees 10 lakhs AND ABOVE...

There are many more dental colleges, which can be added in this list. I'll be upgrading this list with time.

Now NOT all the branches in the above list will be good. For specific branch in a specific college, contact the post graduate student and ask him about.

If you want to choose any college, other than the ones listed above.

  • Check the fees structure
  • Check the stipend
  • Ask the pg student for review related to your branch
  • Ask for additional fees
  • Ask for accomodation, food related issues.

If you feel that the college is in your budget, and every criteria is getting fulfilled, you can go ahead with that college.

I have written a post on 8 tips to consider before you choose your dental college.

Check it out.

It will be impossible to review each and every dental college, but when i was about to do my post graduation, i had contacted these colleges, and the reviews, i had got were good.

Now the reviews, will change depending on your branch, your area of interest, sometimes staff leave the college as well.

So everything matters, do your research properly and then take admission in the dental college.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know in the comments if you like the post.
