Jobs After BDS/MDS in India?

Hi and welcome back to another post on Jobs after BDS/MDS in India?

I'm glad to have you. I had been inactive for some time and back with another post today.

So back to the topic.

Now this is really Important. Because if you still haven't taken dentistry in India and you're planning to take dentistry in India, there is something you need to know.

There are not much of job opportunities in India after dentistry.

Now if you already have started your journey as a dentist in India or want to plan a journey as a dentist in India, you want to take care of these things before you proceed ahead.

  • Make your you crack a government seat
  • If you don't manage a government seat, prefer a college in which fees is very less.
  • If you cannot manage that and want a seat in a college in which the fees is very high...do that only if you have someone as a dentist who owns their own clinic OR if you have good money already to start your own clinic lateron.

I am often been asked about aren't there any jobs in India after dentistry?

To be honest there are jobs BUT the only problem is we don't get paid that good after dentistry.

People in India (Dentists) have made it impossible for other dentist to earn good amount of money

So many good and deserving dentist have already left the country and have been trying abroad...WHY?

Because if you want to work as a BDS in India, you'll be paid...

be a denist

2k...5k....10k...max 15k as a BDS in India

Does this mean dentistry doesn't have money in India?

The answer is dentistry in India have a lot of money...

BUT not if you are doing a job. But if you own your clinic and are regularly getting patients.

Many people do MDS, thinking the jobs would be better after MDS.

The harsh reality is in India, if you are specialised in dentistry and you go to private clinics as a consultant, they will ask you (especially in metro cities), that will you do general dentistry.

The problem is dentistry is already a specialized area and if you do your MDS, you are further doing your super specialization.

No doubt your diagnosis, treatment planning, your work definitely goes better than a BDS graduate, because in India, you don't learn too much as a BDS graduate.

But the problem is as you get more and more super specialized the jobs become even less.

So does this mean that its not worth doing MDS in India?

Now i am not saying it's not worth to do it. It's definitely worth it....

If i tell you that the least preferred subject in dentistry for doing masters has the highest scope for jobs in India?

That's right there are most jobs for Public Health dentistry in India.

Now many institutions in India have lowered their fees for public health dentistry in India.

So if you plan on taking dentistry in India remember to keep in mind these facts.

  • There are government jobs in India with good pay but the seats available are very less. (2-3 seats for 100 competing dentists)
  • Prefer your career as a Public Health Dentist or If you DO NOT want to do MDS, save that money invest it in your own clinic and starting running your PRACTICE.

Now most important question for people who are about to graduate or finish their post graduation

So How do you start finding for JOBS in India after BDS/MDS.

  • There's a FACEBOOK group which list Jobs. Check your city specific area
  • There's a telegram group (Dental Jobs Update) just search on telegram you'll find it. This group posts about government jobs.
  • Dentist Friend: They've started their own jobs portal, you can have some luck struggling.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I'll be back with more content.
